This weekend, nearly 50 troopers and police officers conducted a large checkpoint outside of Black Hawk, resulting in six arrests after 28 people underwent roadside sobriety checks. The checkpoint was established on a winding road known for crashes leading out of the Black Hawk casinos as part of the state patrol's effort to reduce impaired driving incidents. Major Afsoon Ansari, who oversaw the operation, said the goal is to decrease crashes involving impaired drivers.
