Yep, between Federal and State taxes they are taking about 40k/yr away from you at that income level. That is life changing amounts for basically anyone in that general tax level.

I can absolutely confirm Oregon being shit on taxes. I made 21 an hour doing DMV in Oregon. During Covid, I took a salary hit to 18.25 an hour being an overnight shift lead in the grocery store in Washington. I took home MORE at the grocery store than I did in Oregon. It was insane.
