Jason Wayne Ray was shot on Jan. 21 after agents contacted him in a vehicle that was associated with a "vehicular eluding" incident from a few days earlier. According to an affidavit for Ray's arrest, an agent monitoring a security camera saw the vehicle in the Rocky Mountain Motel parking lot at 6001 W. Colfax Ave. around noon that day.
The agent noted that the vehicle was associated with an incident Jan. 17 and that Ray was listed as the suspect. Two Lakewood Police agents made a plan to approach the vehicle from behind and contact the people inside.
