You are already paid better than most service jobs. You get vacation, you get health care, you get tuition reimbursement... What more do you want? The machines do 99% of the work. You take orders and push a button or two. You do have to be on your feet for the full shift but you don't do hard labor.

From the post:

>Starbucks baristas at the company's West Alameda Avenue and South Federal Boulevard location in Denver filed for a union election Friday and on Saturday, baristas from across the Denver metro area are protesting outside another Denver location with a list of demands for the coffee giant. The baristas are organizing after Starbucks unions nationwide have made considerable gains over what workers describe as "unfair labor practices." It also comes at what the union says is Starbucks' busiest season.

My work gives out their gift cards like confetti (And Dutch Bros, who also suck but at least they flirt at the window). I just give them away. Even the mixed fruit drinks taste like sugary garbage.

I recently had to give up caffeine too. Found a few decaff options which are really really good and don't make my heart skip beats.

It's not the caffeine for me, its the acidity. However, I used to slam down 2x of those massive redbull's a day at least. I almost never have caffeine anymore unless I have some tea, most of my tea is caffeine free.

That was not intentional, I really do like my caffeine but when the lockdown's started and I didn't have to waste extra time to commute and could grab an extra hour of sleep I just slowly stopped drinking caffeine for the most part. I do drink a lot of Celestial seasonings Lemon Zinger and when I want caffeine (I like iced tea a lot) I make their cold brew half and half. If you like tea you probably would like this. https://celestialseasonings.com/collections/cold-brewed-iced-tea/products/cold-brew-iced-tea-half-and-half-iced-black-tea-and-lemonade

It does have caffeine though, so if you can't have caffeine it is not for you. The lemon zinger with a little honey is great and caffeine free.

Had that before. It's really good. I'm a serious oddball though. I'd rather put straight lemon juice into my tea. Like...a lot. I also eat lemons raw, but that's because growing up in CA everyone had lemons so we'd eat them like candy. My wife think's I'm crazy for wanting cold brewed tea. Glad I'm not the only one. Hot/Warm has it's place, but cold brewed tea (and coffee) just have a nice smooth flavor.

Hah, more things in common then. I prefer cold brew, my wife does not. I use ice like crazy, she barely ever uses it unless she is having a rare mixed drink or something. I too eat Lemon raw (lime too). She thinks im nuts and my family always have too.

Even more funny, her dad get's it (my father in law). He uses ice like crazy and when his wife makes hot tea (in the pot) he lets it cool for a bit then pours it over a full glass of ice. Must be something about the area we grew up in or the culture.

Those lemon slices they give you for your water? Yeah, I would just eat them like it was a orange or something.

I like the hot tea on day's im not feeling great or when it is very cold outside (like -10F+).

Oh, and I put lemon juice in my lemon zinger along with the honey. I daily use lemon juice in my ice water while working too...
