They use it at the complex I'm at. When I argued that nothing had been done to my apartment that they promised, I was told they couldn't change the rent because the computer dictates the pricing. I was also told I would not be allowed to break the lease I already signed without being fined thousands and the landlord told me I would never be able to find something on such short notice. I was completely screwed.
They are running this complex into the ground and so have many empty units. My rent went up by over 1/3 from 2019 -2021 because of all the Californians moving here. Now that that rush is over, they have empty units from all the evictions of ghetto fucks, my rent does not go down a penny but has stayed exactly the same the last two years. I asked the office if I could get discounted rent since they have 6 of my style of unit open.
Again, the software decides. So I said fine, how about I don't renew and then just get a new lease for this unit. Besides confusing the hell out of the office tard, she then explained the tons of fees and fines for not renewing and getting a new lease. I asked her how all the ghetto fucks they are renting to afford all the new fees and she handed me a brochure for loans...loans for rent, renter's insurance, and loans for fees. It's insane.
I'm guessing the complex gets kickbacks on the loans so dealing with the evictions and property damage is worth it for them.
