You would not believe the amount of cars you see driving around with a registration that is 2+ years old.
However, I do get pissed off at being taxed on something I own every year.
On the other hand... A lot of vehicles that criminal illegal aliens are driving have no registration/expired tags/etc and this is getting those vehicles towed so there is that.
