>Colorado Parks and Wildlife is investigating what it called an “unprecedented” third cow elk attack in Estes Park in the span of about a week. Friday’s attack comes after a second attack was reported on June 4, days after the first elk attack on May 30.
The latest incident occurred early Friday morning when a woman was walking a leashed dog near South St. Vrain Avenue and Stanley Avenue when she “startled a cow elk from about 20 yards away.” The agency said she tried to run behind a tree for protection, but the “elk knocked her to the ground, stomping and kicking her several times.”
