Too bad there are so fucking many people in the state now. It was a beautiful hike 10+ years ago and you could still park at the trailhead.
Like many trails in CO now its infested with people from the coast (east and west) that are loud, obnoxious and litter.
It's still worth it if you can get a reservation (yeah, you need that now too) but its lost a lot of what made it so amazing because of all of the transplants.

I haven’t been there in 20 years, but I imagine the lake is surrounded by insta-influencers & tik-tokkers taking selfies & videos. I was annoyed the the amount of women hiking in bikinis, just seemed inappropriate and I had no desire to go back during busy season.
