The real danger of wolves is them hybridizing with local dogs and acquiring a tempermant that makes them lose their fear of humans. Eurooean wolves will break in your house and eat your children, american grey wolves prefer to avoid humans. I fully expect coydogs to push into the area in the next 10 years if they don't encounter something already filling the niche.
Putting the wolves back is better than letting the coyote hybrids claim the area.
