Michigan is having a helluva time with wolves because of the US Gov(DNR) involvement. Wolves will destroy farms very quickly because Cows are easier than deer. Here's a run down of some traditional ways to protect.
Actually go shepard them. This is best bet since you can specifically pick off animals that are too comfortable getting close to the farm
Leave intact males in the herd.
Stop dehorning everything
Have scape goats
Mix alert animals into the herd
Stop breeding the common sense out of your animals.
Grow a protective hedge. Shit like trifolate orange is impassable.
