I love earth day. For the past 5 years or so, my family and I go walk around our town (small) and clean up trash. About the third year we did it people started coming out to help and or just walk around. Last year we had at least 20 in our group. No signs, posters, or announcements. It's like Halloween, but no costumes and the town looks nice afterwards.

This is what Earth Day should be about, not dire predictions of imminent doom that always turn out wrong. In the town where I lived we did something similar. We'd meet at a local diner then go about town cleaning up. A local greenhouse would provide flowers, shrubs, and even saplings to put in people's yards if they had any available.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. The town itself did a very good job keeping the 'downtown' area (all two square blocks) clean and neat. We'd focus on homes and small businesses that had to do their own yard work. It was a very good community-oriented event.

Again, the compliant, worthless, media just repeats the scare predictions with no questions asked
IMO. The problem is not the media being compliant. It's the compliant sheeple that refuse to ask questions.
