Once a nation is hooked on the cheap goods that are the narcotic free trade provides, it is rarely able to break free.
Most of those goods are things we don't need to begin with. America needs to break free from the consumerism which is driving these wants.

And the few things that ARE needed, should be made here in the first place. Electronics, I'm looking at you. It's got to at least be a national security concern when everything is dripping with electronics that aren't made here.
