Fun story that one too.

Pagan nomad bandits that were known for murdering border dwellers in the next countries along and assuming their identities.

Pretty much a no brainer when the christian neighbours on one side and muslim neighbours on the other side wont put up with your shit any more and force you to choose a religion, then you find out theres a 4000+ year old religion that codifies the degeneracy thats already part of your culture.
