We have lesbian pastors now. Mormons started accepting blacks a while ago. Religion is man-made and its rules are changed by men all the time. The Ten Commandments don't change, though. Religion and God are not synonyms.
This is why only the original scriptures count. And why they tried to kill the guy who translated the bible into a language people could read for themselves.
The question is, how do you force people to obey original scripture forever? Everything gets watered down or ignored when it's too inconvenient for people to follow. That goes for the Constitution, too
That's why I have some sympathy for the people who want to take the bible literally up to the point where they believe that the earth is just 6000 years old. Even if we know that the universe is about 13 billion years old, they know that there is a reason the bible is written that way and that we better don't change it.
