Even atheists should realize that we need fixed moral values that are not fluid. Philosophical moral values are fluid because they are made by man and can be changed by men. Only religious moral values are fixed.

We have lesbian pastors now. Mormons started accepting blacks a while ago. Religion is man-made and its rules are changed by men all the time. The Ten Commandments don't change, though. Religion and God are not synonyms.

This is why only the original scriptures count. And why they tried to kill the guy who translated the bible into a language people could read for themselves.

The question is, how do you force people to obey original scripture forever? Everything gets watered down or ignored when it's too inconvenient for people to follow. That goes for the Constitution, too

The higher spiritual laws of moral behavior come from God. They are perceived by prophets and are acknowledged as spiritually true over time by the people as a whole. They cannot be changed or discarded because they are keyed into our essential human nature. If we follow these laws, we prosper; if we defy them, we degenerate. There is no escaping this reality. We cannot continue to defy moral law as a society, because we will cease to exist as a society. To defy these moral laws is societal suicide. A society can tolerate a small number of its members defying the moral law, but beyond a certain threshold it degrades, and we are well past that threshold.
