30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. - Luke 1:30-31 (KJV)

The Christmas Story continues. In the bible it was common for those that met an angel to have fear, and the angels almost always had to say “fear not”, to calm people’s fear. We, who are born again, should not fear the supernatural things of God, as He has promised to be in us, and never leave us, or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). If God is in us and for us, why should we fear anything (Romans 8:31). What a wonderful salutation, that Mary received that she had found favor with God. I would think that would make a person fear not, just to know that you have found favor with the Lord. The Christian, with the Lord living inside them, should not have fear, as fear is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7), but from the devil.

What a wonderful thing this was, for a virgin to conceive a son, and the angel told her that she was to name Him Jesus. The angel, in a dream, also told Joseph that the child should be named Jesus (Matthew 1:21), so that was a confirmation of what he told Mary, and let them both know for sure that this was done by God. This birth by Mary, a virgin, was prophesized by Isaiah in the Old Testament (Isaiah 7:14), and was the plan of God from the beginning of time. Who would have thought that our Savior would come in such a manner, and it shows what a marvelous God that we have, to come up with a plan such as this. I marvel at what all our God has done, from creation to now, and how He put it all together in such a wonderful fashion. How can anyone not believe in a God with such creative ability as our Lord has, and it shows through all creation. Praise God for sending Jesus.
