5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. - Eph 5:5 (KJV)

In Paul’s day there was a group called Gnostics, that taught that you could live in sin, as your born again spirit would remain holy, and advocated a sinful lifestyle. Paul was making it clear that if you live in sin, then you would not have any inheritance in the kingdom of God. That does not mean that a Christian, who commits a sin, will not go to heaven, as their sins have been forgiven. If you were truly born again, you become a brand new person (2 Corinthians 5:17), and your desires have been changed, and you will now want to live for Jesus and be holy. If you still want to live in sin, as shown in this verse, then you were not really born again, and changed. Many people have repeated the prayer (Romans 10:9-10) to get salvation, but have never accepted Jesus as their Lord, which is necessary for salvation. You must make Jesus your Lord and obey Him to assure your eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9).

If you were truly born again and accepted Jesus as your Lord, then you still must continue to follow Him, as the Holy Spirit leads you. You must work out your salvation (Philippians 2:12), as your failure to do so can cause your name to be blotted out of the Book of Life in heaven (Revelations 3:5). Any time the Holy Ghost tells you that you must do something, and you refuse to do so, is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29, Luke 12:10), and can send a born again Christian to hell (see “New Revelations” on our web site). By refusing to do as Jesus tells you through the Holy Ghost, is the same as rebelling against God, and is unforgivable, unless repented of. Praise God for the Holy Ghost to lead us into all truths that Jesus gave us (John 14:26).
