1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. - Heb 8:1-2 (KJV)

The writer of Hebrews has been making the argument that Jesus being our new High Priest is a much better qualified one, than any of the Old Testament priests on earth. Jesus was not just a human priest, but the very Son of God, so He was much more qualified to be a High Priest than any of the earthly priests. Also, the fact that Jesus is set on the right hand of God certainly makes Him more effective than any earthly priest could ever be. The whole point of this argument is to make the point that Jesus was a better-qualified Priest, and that since the priesthood had changed, the law must be disannulled (Hebrews 7:18), bringing in the New Covenant that we now are under – Praise God.

This verse is letting us know that Jesus is our High Priest in the tabernacle of God in heaven, and not one that man had built on earth. God built the heavenly tabernacle and it is the place that God dwells in. Just think how wonderful it is, that we have Jesus interceding for us in heaven, and since we are in Jesus, as His body the church, we also are high priests (Revelations 1:6), and can enter into the presence of God without fear. Jesus did so much more for us, than just forgive our sins. He gave us His Spirit (Galatians 4:6), the Holy Ghost (John 14:16), Grace Gifts (Ephesians 4:8), fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), made us part of Himself, and most of all, brought us back into fellowship with the Father (John 17:3), which was the whole purpose of His sacrifice. God is love (1 John 4:8), and He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, just to bring us back into close fellowship with Him. Praise God for His abundant love for us.
