9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. - 1 Peter 1:9-11 (KJV)
Peter had just been saying that we rejoice in Jesus, who we have not seen, and love Him, and then the end of our faith is the salvation of our souls. When a person is born again, they receive the very Spirit of Jesus into their bodies (Galatians 4:6), and receive salvation of their souls. In the Old Testament times, the prophets searched for the time that God would send grace to His people (John 1:17), and they yearned for that time. Praise God, we are living in that time, and we need to realize just how blessed we are to have the grace, mercy and love of God poured out on us. If we would just acknowledge all the wonderful things that God has placed inside His children (Philemon 1:6), we would be astonished, as we have the Glory of God living in us, and most Christians don’t have a clue as to what that means.
The old time prophets could see this age we are living in, and they gave the prophecies about the coming of Christ, and His suffering, and the glory that would follow, and they looked forward to this time of the Church Age. If you can understand the bible, and really see what a blessing it is to live in this day and time, you couldn’t help but praise God for His goodness. We need to all count our blessings everyday, and give praise to the Lord for sending them (Psalms 100:4). What a wonderful time it is, and even though the signs of the end times are everywhere, it still is such a marvelous time – we are so very blessed (Ephesians 1:3). Thank you Lord.
