13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. - Heb 6:13-14 (KJV)

God did not have to swear to Abraham, as God can not lie (Titus 1:2), but He knows that we are just dust (Psalms 103:14), so He came down to our level and swore by Himself. It is awesome that our Father is so considerate of us, His creation, that He does so much to appease us in His dealings with us. The promises that God made to Abraham are now applied to us, who are born again, and we inherit all the many promises – praise God. It is amazing that God loves His dirt people so much, that He sent Jesus to die for us (John 3:16), so He could again have a close fellowship with us, which is what eternal life is (John 17:3).

God has commanded many blessings on us, who have Abraham’s type of faith, and put that faith in Jesus, as we become the Father’s children by doing so, as faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). When we get born again we receive all Spiritual Blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3), and the blessings are many throughout the bible. In the Old Testament a list of blessings is given (Deuteronomy 28:2-13), and this verse is quoting from the book of Genesis (22:16-18). If you have read all the promises that God has made, and realize that they now apply to us, who are born again, then it should put a shout of joy in you. If we Christians could ever realize what all we have in us already, we would be amazed. It is not out there somewhere, but inside us, and yet we are as sickly, poor, and defeated as the unsaved of the world. This should not be – Thank you Lord for all our blessings, and help us to understand, and receive, them.
