Help me Pastor Joe. I seriously cannot believe that God gave His only begotten son as a sacrifice so that we could be free to worship other gods, idolise, blaspheme, reject His sabbath, dishonour parents, murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, and covet?
When I refer to the passages you give in support of your case that the law is annulled, I keep finding the opposite case in the same chapter that you quote from:
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law Romans 3 KJV
Surely the idea of responding to grace with lawlessness is unworthy of God’s children. Jeremiah points out in the verses immediately preceding the ones you quote that the commandments are no longer written on stone, but on our hearts:
31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31 KJV
Here you quote Galatians 2:16 and leave the next verse:
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. Galatians 2 KJV
And how can you quote: Matthew 5:17 and ignore verses 18 and 19?
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5 KJV
I don’t find His laws to be grievous and burdensome but exactly the opposite, and I can’t find even one quote from Jesus the Messiah where he contradicts all the times he upholds the law. Such a statement would surely need to be absolutely unequivocal, and give a clear explanation for why he would overturn the holy law although heaven and earth have not yet passed away.
If you are truly born again, your sin nature is changed, and you will no longer want to live in sin. If you still want to sin, then you were not truly born again, as it makes you want to live for Jesus. Jesus did not do away with the law, but He fulfilled it, making Him righteous under the law, and then He gives those that believe in Him, His righteousness. God puts His law in our hearts when we are born, and we know right from wrong. The law still is valid for all that reject Jesus. God bless you for reading God's word, Love, Pastor Joe.
You began your devotional “The law was given by God to the Jews, and was never intended for the Gentiles”. I can find no justification in scripture for saying that the law was done away with for anyone.
As a born again christian do you really find that you no longer sin?
How do you reconcile “The law still is valid for all that reject Jesus” with Jesus saying: ‘15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.’ John 14 KJV
Blessings in Jesus the Messiah
Jesus commandments were about Love, and were not about keeping the law. He said if you love God and your neighbor, you have fulfilled the entire old law of doing. I was not called by God to argue or debate His word, only to teach it. If you are truly born again and have the Holy Ghost in you, then all you have to do is ask Him these questions and He will answer them. Thanks for reading God's Word, and have a blessed day. Love, Pastor Joe.
