Daily Devotional

August 2

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)

Christians always want to know what the will of God is for their lives and this verse tells you. God wants you – not what you can do for Him, but He wants you in a personal relationship with Him, by giving yourself wholly to Him. If you will give yourself to God, and do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do, God will be pleased with you, and will lead you through life, and your life will be better than you ever dreamed (Jeremiah 29:11). People think that giving their lives over to the Lord will cause them to live in a hut in Africa, or something, but that is not true (James 1:17). God will first of all put His desires in your heart, then He will give you the desires of your heart, and you will love it. Serving God and following Him is not something to be dreaded, but is something to desire, as it is wonderful.

When you give yourself to God as a living sacrifice, then what He wants you to do is renew your mind by studying the bible, as the bible will tell you what God wants you to do. As you study the bible, the Holy Spirit will make it come alive to you, and you will come to know God in an intimate way, and build a relationship with Him. Studying God’s Word, and praying to Him, will bring you close to God, and that is what He wants, and what Jesus came and died for (John 3:16), to bring you into fellowship with the Father and Jesus (John 17:3). God loves His children so much that he died to have this fellowship with you, and if He gets your love, He will also get your service. Praise God for Jesus.
