6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. - Romans 11:6 (KJV)
This verse is in Old English, but all it is saying is that you are either saved by grace, or saved by works, but not a combination of both. It is either you try and earn self-righteousness by doing the works of the law, or you accept the righteousness of God by grace, as a gift. If you try to earn your righteousness by working for it, then you are under the law, and if you do so, you will be judged by the law, and no one can be justified by the law (Romans 3:20). If you want to go to heaven, then you must put faith in the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9), and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10).
So many churches are still trying to teach the law, of telling you that you must tithe, attend church, witness, etc., for God to fellowship with you, or to get your prayers answered. This is making you earn self-righteousness under the law, and will not lead to heaven. You must put your faith entirely in Jesus, and not what you do, for you to be justified in the sight of God (Galatians 2:16). Jesus came to set us free from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), and He fulfilled the entire law for us (Matthew 5:17), so that we, by putting faith in what He did, can obtain His righteousness, and be totally justified in the sight of our Father. What a gift this is, to have our justification given to us, instead of having to work for it. Praise God for His plan of salvation, and praise Jesus for fulfilling it. Wow!
