13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? - Romans 10:13-14 (KJV)
This verse makes it clear that “whosoever” calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. This makes the doctrine of predestination just not true, as God does not predetermine who shall be saved, as man has a free will to choose life or death (Deuteronomy 30:19). This verse is a quote from the Old Testament (Joel 2:32), and shows that calling on the Lord (and believing in your heart) is all that is necessary for salvation (Romans 10:9-10). So many churches make being saved much more complicated, as they teach you must confess all your sins, start living holy, etc. for God to give you salvation. Just believe in Jesus, as that is the Good News of the Gospel (Romans 1:16)!
This statement makes it clear that we must hear the Gospel to have the faith to be saved (Romans 10:17), and we need preachers to preach the Gospel to the unsaved. One will not read the bible on their own, and understand it well enough to get saved, as it is impossible for the unsaved to understand the Word of God (Mark 4:11-12) by themselves. So for a person to be saved, and born again, it takes a preacher to preach the Gospel to them, and it also takes people to send the preachers out by supporting them (Romans 10:15). This is why it is so important for all us Christians to support the missionaries that take the Gospel all over the world, so people can hear it and be saved. Praise God for the Gospel.
