When someone says they are speaking in tongues, nobody understand what they're saying. When the Holy Spirit goes through people and you speak, others understand what you're saying, even if it's their natural language. Big difference. If we are all in a place and we all speak English (or any other language) why would the Holy Spirit make you talk in a language nobody understands?
"One who speaks in a tongue does no speak to men, but to God; for no one understands, but in [his] spirit he speaks mysteries." - 1 Cor 14:2
Again, the Holy Spirit would NOT make you talk in a language that nobody understands (without an interpreter). See verse 9.
