56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Cor 15:56-57 (KJV)
Sin is what brought death into this world, as Adam, when he sinned and his spirit died, caused death to enter into the world. Once sin entered the world, then sin, and death, were passed on to all mankind (Romans 5:12). Since the original sin, all of us have been born with a sin nature, which brings our death along with it. Since we all have the sin nature at birth, it will cause us to sin, and even the slightest transgression of the law (James 2:10) will cause us to go to hell, if we do not get born again (Romans 6:23). Notice that the strength of sin is by the law, as the law is what made sin come alive, and strengthened it (Romans 7:9).
The victory that Paul was talking about is our victory over death (1 Corinthians 15:54), and our born again experience we have, when we believe on Jesus as our Savior, is what defeats death, as Jesus came to bring us life (John 10:10). This life that Jesus brings, to those that accept Him, is more than just living forever with Him and the Father, but it is all the Grace gifts that we can enjoy in this life, now. It includes the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), but also includes healing, prosperity, deliverance from the devil, etc. If the church would teach the full Gospel of Jesus Christ the Christian would start to live in the abundant life that God wants us to have, right now, in this life, not just when we get to heaven. Any pastor that doesn’t teach all that Jesus brought to us is going to have to answer to God at the time of Judgment. Praise God that we have been given so much, when we have deserved it so little. Thank you Jesus!
