Daily Devotional

June 13

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. - 1 Cor 15:42-44 (KJV)

Paul had been teaching that on the resurrection of our bodies, when Jesus comes again, and when we die, our bodies are corrupted, by decaying. Jesus body did not see corruption when He died (Acts 2:27, 31), and He was the first to receive the incorruptible body.

When we die, in dishonor (decay), we will be raised in glory (incorruptible). It is like a seed, as we will die and decay, only to rise again in new life. Like a seed of corn, we die and are planted in the ground, then we revive and grow into a brand new being. This seed and harvest principal is used throughout the bible, and it applies to us also. We are sown in weakness (flesh), and then are raised in power (spiritual). Praise God!

Just as we, while we are alive, have a natural body (flesh), so will we when we rise again, have a spiritual body (spirit), just like Jesus now has. When Jesus comes again, we, who are born again, will be just like He is (1 John 3:2). Our new spiritual bodies will still have flesh and bone, as Jesus has (Luke 24:39), but will not have all the physical restrictions that our human body has. Praise God that we will be given a body that doesn’t decay, and live with Him forever – Thank you Lord for this promise.
