Daily Devotional

May 3

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. - Heb 11:1-3 (KJV)

Faith is real, and not just something imaginary. Faith is substance of things that exist in the spirit world, and can not be seen or detected by our five physical senses. It is like the radio, television, and cell phone signals that are real, but we can’t see them. Faith is evidence of the unseen spiritual world.

The Old Testament Prophets and saints had to see by faith into the future, to know what was to come. People like Abraham used their faith to believe in God and all the promises that He made to them (Genesis 15:6). Abraham was strong in faith, and that is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6), and is why he was so blessed by God in all he did. Abraham’s strong faith is what made him so faithful to God, causing him to obey God, and he is the father of our faith (Romans 4:13).

We have to use faith to understand God, and the creation of this world, as they came from the unseen world, and you have to use faith to know that things exist that we can’t see, hear, smell, feel, or taste. God had to give us His faith for us to be able to believe in Him, and we receive that faith by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). This world and everything in it, was made out of substance that we can not see, but is real. Praise God for His faith, so that we might believe in what we can’t see.
