Daily Devotional

April 14

9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. - Psalms 119:9-11 (KJV)

What an absolute truth this is, that a man will cleanse his way by following the Word of God. Our Father gave us His Words of instruction, and it is to us like a user manual, and we should all follow it in all we do and say (1 Peter 1:15). We need to base our entire lives upon His instructions (1 Peter 2:9).

You must seek God with your whole heart, before you will truly know Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). The only way to know God is through His Word, the bible, and it is not enough to just occasionally read some of it, but you must study, ponder, meditate, and really get to where you understand it (John 8:31). Those that think going to church and hearing the Word preached each Sunday, will be enough to know God are very mistaken. It takes much more than that to be able to know God, and have fellowship with Him (John 17:3). We need to be sure and not wander from the commandments of Jesus (Hebrews 5:9).

The word translated “hid” means to protect, and this is telling us to protect the Word once we get it into our hearts. The reason we have to protect it, is that the devil comes to steal the word from us, so that he can destroy us (John 10:10). We need to walk in faith, and in the spirit, letting Jesus lead us through this life, so that we can let our light shine to others (Matthew 5:16). Praise God for His instruction manual – the bible.

Thanks for the comment but I would rather be led by the Holy Ghost in all my decisions as the Word tells us. Love, Pastor Joe.
