8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. - Psalms 118:8-9 (KJV)
This is so very true, as humans are bad to lie and let you down, but the Lord does not lie (Titus 1:2). The Lord said that a man is cursed that trusts in man, rather than trusting in God (Jeremiah 17:5-7). If you are trusting in other men, or in yourself, you are foolish, as the Lord is the only one who has the wisdom to lead us properly (Jeremiah 10:23). Most all the trouble we get into is when we rely upon our worldly wisdom to lead us. Remember that when we don’t let the Lord be our leader, then we are allowing the devil to lead us. Satan loves to see us think that we are self-made men, as he knows that we are his servants when we think that (Romans 6:16).
If you are following your own ideas, and if it is not the Lords, you are not wise (Proverbs 3:5). So many humans have heroes that they want to be like, and most of them are sorry people. There is no human that is worth following, and that can be a proper example for us, and that is why we should choose to follow God in all our ways (Proverbs 3:6). People don’t realize that if you are not following after Christ, then you are following the devil, as he is the god of this world. It really doesn’t matter what position a person has, whether a king, president, rock star, movie star, or prince, to follow them instead of God, is to bring ruin to yourself. We need to all keep eternity in mind, and not go after acclaim in this life, but store up our treasures in heaven, because where our treasure is, there is where our heart will be (Luke 12:34). Praise God for all His guidance.
