17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. - 1 John 4:17 (KJV)

What a wonderful truth that we, who are born again, are right now like Jesus is, in our spirits. It is not something that is in the future, but when we got born again we were made righteous and truly holy in our new spirits (Ephesians 4:24). This does not mean that we just had something changed in us, but we were given a brand new spirit (Galatians 4:6), and all things became new in our spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17). We Christians are made up of a body, soul, and spirit, and it is the spirit part of us that has been made brand-new. The spirit is not something that we can feel with our 5 physical senses, so we have to know that it has been changed by faith, not feelings.

Since our new spirit is the very spirit of Jesus living in us, that makes us a part of His body, as we share His spirit. Since God is a Spirit (John 4:24), and we now have the spirit of Jesus in us, we can come before God boldly, as when God looks upon us, who are born again, He sees us just like Jesus – Wow! To think that we can approach God just as Jesus can, and go right into His presence is wonderful. What a wonderful plan of salvation God thought up, as we could never become holy on our own (Romans 3:10), so He gave us His holiness through His Son Jesus. What love the Father has for His children, that He would sacrifice His Son, just to bring us back into fellowship with Him (John 17:3). Praise God for His mercy, grace and love toward us!
