February 11
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. - Matt 10:7-8 (KJV)
The disciples of Jesus were given this command, and it applies to all of us Christians, who have been born again, and are serving the Lord. We are to go everywhere we are led, and preach the Gospel. The “kingdom of heaven” is speaking of the Church, and the kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, in the hearts of all us born again believers (John 18:36). Us Christians make up the kingdom of heaven here on the earth, and we need to witness to all the unbelievers, and tell them about our kingdom, and our Savior Jesus, who heads up our kingdom (Ephesians 5:23).
We are told many times to not only preach the Gospel, but to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils, etc. (Luke 9:2, Mark 16:17-18, John 14:12). Notice that these verses don’t tell us to pray for the sick, or pray that the devils be cast out, or pray for the dead, but it tells us to do it, not pray for it. The Lord gave us, not only the commands to do these things, but the power of the Holy Ghost so that God’s power would be available to us to do these things (Isaiah 45:11). This power is not just for the Pastors, but is available to all the Saints who have the Holy Ghost in them. If you have been born again, and baptized with the Holy Ghost, you have this power, and God wants you to use it. Jesus did not tell us we could do these things, He told us we would do them (John 14:12). Jesus said, “If you love me, you will follow my commands” (John 14:15) – we need to do so. If all us believers would go out and heal the sick, raise the dead, etc., we would cause a revival like never before in history. Why don’t we just go and do it? Praise God for giving us this power!
