1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; - Psalms 103:1-3 (KJV)
David is talking to himself, and commanding his body and soul to bless the Lord. We need to all talk out loud to our bodies and souls, and command them to do what we want them to do. It is the power of our spoken words that will bring results (Proverbs 18:21). We need to realize that we will get what we say, so say what you want, and not what you fear. Negative words will destroy you, so speak only positive words out of your mouth.
We need to bless the Lord at all times, as He is worthy to be blessed (2 Samuel 22:4). We need to not forget all that the Lord has done, and will do, for us. Our memory is a very important part of following after the Lord, and His ways. Our nature is to forget all the wonderful things that God does for us, and you need to make a effort to remember all that God has blessed you with (Ephesians 1:3).
God forgave all our iniquities and sins, by sending Jesus to be our sacrificial lamb, and die on the cross for us. That, by itself should cause us to bless the Lord at all times. But God by grace has given us so much more. He not only gave us the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and the Spiritual Gifts of ministry, but also of healing, prosperity, and deliverance from the devil. We need to do as Jesus commanded us to do, and do the works that He did while ministering on the earth (John 14:12). We are given the ministry of reconciliation and are to go and preach the Gospel to all the world, and God will give us signs of miracles to confirm our preaching (Mark 16:17-18). If you love Jesus, you will do as He commands and insure your eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9).
