30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. - Mark 13:30-32 (KJV)

Jesus had just been giving the signs that would precede the Second Coming of the Lord. He is saying that when all these signs have occurred, then the generation that is alive at that time will see His coming again. Many, or most, of the signs have been coming to pass recently, meaning that the time of His coming again is getting near. Our generation may observe the Second Coming of the Lord soon (Mark 13:26) – so you need to be ready for it – Praise God!

The words of the Bible will never pass away, as they are surer than the Heaven and Earth, which will pass away (Revelation 21:1). Those that say the Word of God is outdated, and must be changed to be current, ARE WRONG! The Word of God will stay the same forever, and it does not change. Us humans think that we know more than God, but it sure is not so (Romans 11:33). All the commands and examples in the Bible apply to us today, just as they did to those that wrote them thousands of years ago. That is what makes the Word alive, as it does not change.

This verse makes it clear that no one knows the date, or time, that Jesus will come again, so anyone, who claims to have figured it out, is lying. Jesus will come as a “thief in the night” and it will be a surprise to everyone (1 Thessalonians 5:2). Do not believe those that claim to know when His coming will be, as it will catch us all by surprise. Just be sure and be ready (Matthew 25:13), and if you keep close to the Lord every day, then you will be ready when He comes. It is exciting to me, to think that Jesus may come any day now, and I plan to be watching for Him, and be ready. You need to do the same.
