January 11

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. - Mark 12:30-31 (KJV)

What wonderful verses are these! Jesus summed up the whole law and commandments into two expressions of love. This shows that God is love (1 John 4:8), as Jesus was the perfect representation of God the Father, and Jesus showed love like no human ever had. God never wanted to lay the law down that He gave through Moses (Exodus 34:28), but had to because the sins of man were killing us, and something had to be done to put the fear into us, so that sin would not completely destroy us all. Many people still feel that God is mad, and angry with us, and judging us, like in the Old Testament, but that is not so, and this verse shows the true nature of God. If you look at the law properly, it was given in love, to keep us humans from completely destroying ourselves. Our sin had gotten so bad that Satan was getting close to destroying mankind altogether. Praise God for His love.

Notice we are to love God with all our heart, not with part of our heart. If you do not put God above everything else in your life, then you do not love Him with all your heart. You need to look at your life, and see what you think on, and act on, most in your daily life. If it is not God, then you need to adjust your lifestyle. The only way that we can love our neighbor as ourselves is to die to ourselves, and let Christ live through us. Our human carnal selves just will not love others with God’s kind of love, so we have to draw on our born again Spirits, and tap into the very love of God that resides in us, to be able to express this kind of love. If you are self-centered, and thinking of just yourself, you can not love others like you should. This is the problem with so much of the world today, as it is all about me, just what you want for yourself that is important to you. One of the signs of the end times is when people love pleasures more then God (2 Timothy 3:1-4), and we sure are there now. Praise God for our salvation – Let the end time come!
