Very good point. You're right. KJV is the best version. I was reading Maccabees in the New American Version so it's easier to understand the essence of the story of the revolt against tyranny. That's all...seems fitting for our modern day, isn't it?
But I totally agree: nothing better than KJV
I don't trust what I'm reading (so I don't), no way to verify HOW they translated the ORIGINAL manuscripts. EASIEST way for Satan to FUCK us. I read a lttle. have to admit (eg Isaiah CH13 V14-16) I LOOK actively for parallels to TODAYS proceedings AND am COMFORTED by them, even though they may not be "fluffy" I know THAT is NOT the point of the Bible.
Maybe not. The story of Maccabees is more of historic curiosity; and the trials they endured can be just as invigorating to those who live to witness the similar kind - your objection is understandable though. But God can be understood without the Bible - if you NEED a specific written work to understand God, do you really understand him? You got some good knowledge, like an old scribe. Thanks for your comment.
