I didnt go to church for years. Wife and kids went without me. Finally, my wife convinced me to come with them to a traditional latin mass. I dont speak latin, so it was weird at first. Now, when I walk in to a Vatican II novus ordo mass, it seems silly. The old way was quiet, somber, respectful without all the singing and hand shaking... Big difference is the preist doesnt face the pews, he faces the altar... He leads us in the mass versus preaching the words to us withnhis back to Jesus. Id suggest trying to find a TLM and check it out. Harder now that most have been banned by the pope and stuff. Our church has a few months left before it goes away. Not sure what Ill do after that. I think the priest there will still run a respectful novus ordo mass... we shall see.
