This should be illegal for EVERY product. If you bought something that has a capability they can "unlock" for more money then it should just exist in the first place. I don't want any of this "renting features" bullshit in anything I use. I am looking at buying a tractor since I want to move and have some land. I am looking for old crap that I can work on myself. None of this fancy new shit that has AC and a GPS. I can add shit like that if I want because I am not a moron.

At this point if I have an EV I am just going to do a conversion myself. Ill buy a battery out of a wrecked EV, rip out the ICE stuff and strap it all in on my own.
I don't want all of their tracking shit anyway. There is a guy with a youtube channel doing exactly this with a battery out of a scraped LEAF. Apparently junk yards are scared of them and will sell them cheap. You have to buy the whole thing and pull the battery yourself though. Something I am willing and able to do.

If I didn't love my truck, I'd consider an EV. I only use it for my short commute anyway. Most EVs are AWD by default because of the way the motors work so besides the bed and ability to tow, neither of which I really use, I wouldn't be missing anything

My current vehicle is a over 20 year old truck. It does everything I want with no issues. I don't see a point in getting a EV. If I get one, like I said, I would probably just convert something myself.
