What's really amazing is, the US is still using guardrails. 3rd world infrastructure.

Many states are banning old guardrail systems.

Remember that the USA has 7.04 million kM of roadway, more than any other country on this planet, and we started laying down turnpikes in 1934. Any authority here can lay down a road, from private companies to the federal government.

It's going to take a long while to replace all of that infrastructure.

she continued. “This work is the first necessary step towards ensuring that our nation’s protection measures, such as roadside barrier systems and barriers to protect against hostile vehicles, are adapting to accommodate for the changing composition of the vehicle fleet.”

CBS noted that around half of new car sales will be electric by 2023, citing estimates from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Two things…. First, this seems like finding a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. But that has never stopped them from taking massive amounts of money to throw at a dumpster fire trying to fix it anyway. There is zero chance we see the electric car displace gas powered in the near to distant future, so any major funds spent fixing guard rails are a complete waste.

Secondly, the second quote is already massively out of date and out of touch. 2023 came and went, EV sales are plummeting faster than Biden claiming up AF1s stairs.

To be fair, guard rails often do more harm than help, usually due to a dumb positioning, poor maintenance, and/or shoddy installation.

They're not designed to protect YOU, they're there to hopefully keep the debris of your alcohol-infused corpse from falling down over the cliffside.

Well good luck with that!

I know, right? If I'm going to off myself in a suicidal, alcohol infused way, I'm going to get something more impressive than a car.
