So these nanobots communicate ... With the nearby phone? Over Bluetooth or NFC? The researchers discovered the protocol they use? Does the phone quietly run an app that forwards nanobot messages to this database? Or maybe there's a full TCP/IP stack with WiFi in each nanobot and it connects with nearby access points?
Yeah, this is a red flag for the article, and makes me question how much is FUD
If such thing did exist, it probably wouldn't be that advanced and would use a much simpler mean of communication like RTTY.
