Yes. It does need to be done pro actively, and its not a binary, quick, one and done sorta thing. You can also do some sort of "death power of attorney" but it doesn't just mean you get to kill the named person. It means that if they get incapacitated, and not able to advocate for themselves, you get to. Advicate on their behalf i mean
I'm glad the right exists, but its also put me in the position of being that named person for someone I care about. Am I truly strong enough to help a loved one die, in keeping with repeatedly stated wishes on the subject? I hope so, but I hope way more that I'm never put in that awfull position.
I'm very much against the state euthanizing, and I don't doubt a few dumbass bureaucrats, or even truly horrible people did encourage suicide as a solution for poverty. Unfortunately, all the posts I've seen on poal regarding the matter seem biased to the point of dishonesty. While I don't doubt corruption, government incompetence, and the human capacity for evil , my boots on the ground version of things is a little different, and I wanted to share it.
