Only in times like these has it become obvious as to how flawed our system is. I don't contribute to charities for this very reason. I don't use Windows operating system, I use linux on a removable format. I never use my identity on it, no emails , no purchasing, nothing. when I'm done playing online, I remove the msata drive on usb interface and store it away from my laptop. plug it into any computer and it appears unformatted and blank. plug it in a linux system and it's encrypted and requires a password to access it. I use a vpn and sometimes TOR, I have nothing to hide except my participation in public speech. it has become a liability in these times. Your phones aren't safe, Your computers aren't safe. believe me, I have been doing this shit a long time. Never ever reveal your true identity online unless it is something you don't mind the world knowing.

Good for you, it takes a lot of patience and effort to maintain personal security & privacy at that level. Personally I don't trust TOR enough to be protective, and am hoping decentralized VPN will be more trustable.

I opine that if you aren't breaking any laws , You aren't on anyone's radar and are fairly safe. but in this climate, you can get punished for wrong think. stay proactive and do everything you can.

Having "unacceptable views" is pretty much breaking the law in Canada now, and people "liking" posts on FB warrants a visit from Ontario police. It's becoming increasingly difficult to stay off the radar.

Tor use to be the shit until FBI altered the code and distributed their version of it. I do nothing but participate in public discussion but I prefer to remain anonymous. I trust anything more than I trust windows, Apple, Google.....

TOR was originally created by the US Navy...
