Yeah it might, especially if it serves to discredit the ruling administration. Maybe lead to a vote of confidence to bring down the minority government. Not that the Conservatives are offering much as a better alternative. Two sides of the same policy is all they offer us. People are unaware that the free trade started 30 years ago is what made us vulnerable in the first place.
