I'm not a fan of big corporations, but they don't close profitable stores to virtue signal or make a statement. Rather, they typically shut down stores that aren't making a profit.
However, I'm sure Bezos will step up and open a Whole Foods while gladly paying an extra $4 or $5 hazard pay.
