Just listened to parents gush about retirement plans they're sailing off into this year. It's pretty gratuitous too. Like not even going to live near any relatives or their offspring. Just going to visit DisneyLand and shit (seriously, it's another topic entirely).

"...and then we'll come out and visit you and your brother..." yeah let's not

I can save twice as hard as they did and will never be able to retire.

Civil war, rope, arms. That is the best we can hope for in our lifespans... then our children will reap the harvest

It's not strange at all as it's just the way of nature. You're right, no one asks for, as did none of our forbearers, but we'd not have the luxury to even contemplate such a thing if they decided to just give up along any part of their lives.

Every person, every generation and every society backslides. To what extent, how far and to what detriment is in the eyes of the scrutinizer. Take care of yourself and don't punish others too much.
