Word of warning: When I was a kid I built a forge with the exhaust of an old vacuum cleaner for the air supply, but if you leave the pipe hooked up with the fire going, fumes can backtrack down into the vacuum cleaner to be ignited when you turn it on from the sparks in the motor brushes. Then you have to find another old vacuum after you've extracted any possible shrapnel.
