They started infiltrating Bitcoin as early as 2011, took over the github repo and censored everyone in the community in 2014, and had completely coopted it by 2017, when Bitcoin Cash split off. Now the crypto community is hopelessly fragmented into thousands of competing projects that don't share the same network effect. The "Layer 2" schemes are the same as banking where the nodes can censor transactions. Yeah, it's fuckery. They do NOT fear Bitcoin. In fact, they make sure the cryptos they've captured are worth the most so they can squeeze out the cryptos that could potentially be threatening, i.e. the privacy coins. If someone figures out a massively scaling privacy coin, and a parallel society starts using it, they could be in trouble.

What about Monero

I don't know as much about monero, but fluffypony got involved, which is hugely suspicious, because he's a big time banker/government shill.

He got caught stealing from a company he was working at. I don’t know enough about privacy coins to know what’s in the code or even if he knew how monaro works could one crack it. Regardless, a privacy coin is somethings that could be useful.
