Good to take care of mom. If the newer one shoots craps the old rusty one will probably still get clothes clean. Moot now....

That old washer was the classic late 1960s-early 1970s olive green with darker olive green fringe so the brown rust spots looked extra hideous, and the mechanical failure was catastrophic. It was well used, old and tired, so I took it to the dump. Its companion dryer is still a running unit, mom preferred to hang clothes on the clothesline and seldom used the dryer. Yes, I bought mom many things she wouldn't have had in the 26 years after my father died. You only get one real mom in life and she was an exceptionally kind, gentle and thoughtful soul who deserved a better life than she got, yet never complained. I felt blessed to be her son.

It was called "Avacado". Also popular was the brown "Coppertone". Plain white was "out" in the mid to late '60s.

Yes, avocado. With a darker avocado fringe (fancy version I guess), chrome knobs and controls. And a shotgun blast of rust on the top.
