I won't deny Centerfold being a defining song for them. I had a chance to see them live at Pine Knob back then, and ended up not going. It turned out that they recorded that concert and released it as a live album. I was seriously bummed!
But man, their older stuff really laid down a great foundation that gave them a signature sound. I was really disappointed with "Love Stinks" and beyond just because they really sounded like... a different band.
It was cool when the live album came out, because they played "Land of a Thousand Dances" on the radio every once in a while!
