Back when I was single, I figured out a sure-fire win with gals I was interested in.
I would send them flowers for Groundhog Day (February 2nd). And not just send to them, but send to them at their office.
Several reasons for this:
First, the flowers we less expensive than on Valentine's Day. Like, a LOT less expensive.
Second, other gals in their offices would ask what the flowers were for. "Groundhog Day" gave the gal I was interested in an excuse to be unique and not like all the other gals who'd get flowers for Valentine's Day (which could be played off as regular and expected).
Third, when Valentine's Day came around, my gal could say "Oh well, my guy already got me flowers for Groundhog Day. We don't go for those Hallmark holidays." It would be a point of uniqueness she could stand on for attention (cause remember gals love that attention).
Fourth, Groundhog is a REAL holiday which traces its origins back to old Germany. This was another point the gal could stand on to get attention away from the gals who's guys observed Valentine's Day.
It sounds goofy, but it absolutely 100% worked. Hearts literally melted and I did this for years.
Dating suck. It's always sucked, but it sucks way way worse now. If you're in that phase of life, give this a try.
Oh - at one point I even wrote an article about Groundhog Day, tracing its origins way way back, and ultimately decided that the modern day Groundhog Day gift would be something electronic, preferably musically oriented. No, really. Way way back in the day, the old Germans gave each other presents for Groundhog Day (or whatever it was called back then - it had to do with farming and all), and those presents were musically oriented. So I connected the dots (it's a little wobbly, sure) and made reason out of it. Gives the gals an idea for gifts for you. Cause remember: gals love being told what to do. Easy mode and all that.
But yeah, the gal in the video isn't wrong. And if unregistered firearms aren't obtainable because you're stupid or lame, be original and different. Make sure what you give her allows her to stand out from her crowd of "friends".
Actual good advice.
I had no idea Groundhog Day was a legit holiday from Germany. Very cool.
